Solo Wings is part of the history of Microlight flying in South Africa

Established in 1975 by Aidan de Gersigny it began as a pioneering dream and flourished into the largest manufacturer of hang gliders in Africa. In 1985 Aidan realized that there was to be a major growth area in the manufacturer of flex wing-powered flight. He was right! And so a new idea took flight with the fledgling WINDLASS TRIKE becoming a reality.

SOLO WINGS vision was to produce the finest most popular Microlight in Africa. The WINDLASS quickly achieved that status and developed over the years from a "basic structure that flew" into a refined aero dynamically, sleek Aircraft.

Designed to take you safely and comfortably across country side that can only be experienced from the air. To explore new beaches, bushveld teeming with game, or flying off on a breakfast run with friends and to share the dream, the fun, exhilaration and adventurous spirit of a past era of flight.

After a few years Aidan needed a new challenge and the market was looking for something new. So out of that the AQUILLA was born. A new look, sophisticated, up-market member of the SOLO WINGS family. The AQUILLA rapidly overtook the WINDLASS in popularity and is currently the most popular Microlight in Africa.
